180 days done, done…

March 2, 2010

and done. Celebrations! Hoorahs! Yippees! We had a grand old Wii party (for the boys) to celebrate the end of Official Attendance Reports. I chose a bonus at the Clinique counter.

Friday, Feb. 28, was the actual 180th day. I know, this causes you pause if you think I started school in September. We start school in June and run through 180 days. Whatever that might be. Last year we ended mid-March. But our curriculum this year kept us more consistently on a 4-5 day a week schedule so Feb. 28 it was.

The boys of course, even in the midst of all celebration, know that it still means the Grand Finishing of the Curriculum is our push from now until Mom stocks up on Brand New! Shiny! Fresh! Curriculum at the Homeschool Fair in April. The finishing curriculum part of our school year usually pans out to 2-3 days a week. Nice and easy for everyone concerned. Especially the Mom.

Plus, the luxury allows them to return to favorite parts of the history or science we studied this year and do independent projects. They are all ready working on some really neat logic and critical thinking skills computer programs, model building sets and a physics workshop kit. This is our year for standardized testing as well. We’ll do that in the next month or so.

That sweet sense of accomplishing 180 days? It is really, really nice. Thank you, Lord, for bringing us through another year of learning more about You and the world You have created.
