I’ve discovered something…

May 7, 2008

more annoying than chronic bedrest and dangerously terminal cabin fever.

It’s the phone calls from bill collectors and medical offices that haven’t properly checked their books to see that the bill they are calling me about, to chastise me regarding a supposed balance, has in fact, in truth, in check posted by my bank, been duly paid.

Weeks ago.

We’ve run this route before, of course. The medical bills we incurred during James’ two year hospital stint would literally make your head spin, your eyes pop out of your head, and then the gagging would begin.

I’ll tell you the most difficult medical procedure of all to undergo. It’s the one where the insurance company does not properly communicate with the medical provider who does not verify or confirm with the bill collection agencies they hire to call me over something handled all ready. A twisted colon with significant adhesions has nothing on that mess of mess.

And no one is receiving proper sedation during those calls.

Sigh. Husband is self-employed. We know the value and necessity of having bills paid on time, in a timely fashion and manner, at the right time. We get that. We have to buy our groceries on that.

But, for the love of the lady with a two inch scar on her back not able to sprint to the phone, please check your records of payment before you call to complain that she hasn’t paid you.

I can only imagine something this big! My little one broke her arm last summer and the fighting went on for MONTHS. Made worse by the fact that we were on COBRA at the time. COBRA that had already expired by the time I spoke with most agencies.

And it was a bigger headache than all the broken bones I could imagine.

Exactly! Thank you very little! Right hand please communicate with left hand!!

Praying that you are healing and recovering quickly!

ARGH!!! Seriously – how frustrating and exhausting. I’m sorry you’re having to endure that on top of everything else!
